Good Friday

This is Good Friday when we observe the day Jesus was nailed to a cross, died and was buried.  We call it good, but it was a dark time for those who followed Jesus.  We know the end of the story.  We know that Jesus rose from the dead and his tomb is empty.  They didn’t.  They were expecting Jesus to become a king on earth.  It was a dark day as they saw their dreams die and they experienced shame and fear as most abandoned Jesus.

But God’s plan was that He would give his life on the cross to pay for our sins.

John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Good Friday really is good!  Jesus made a way for us to be saved!  Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is a gift of God.” The gift we have been given is a new life through Jesus Christ.

A few suggestions for today and Easter Sunday…

Take some time to ponder what this day means.  Open your Bible app on your phone or just open your actual Bible.  You can read about Good Friday in John, chapter 19.  Many churches have Good Friday services you can join online as well.

This Sunday is a time to observe Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus!  Take some time to read John, chapter 20, the account of the resurrection.  Again I would suggest you join a church service online Sunday morning.

You may want to know more about what a relationship with Jesus is all about. Please message me if you want to talk about what it means to be a follower of Jesus…or if you just want to talk.  I would love to connect with you!
